Founded in 1862, FAO Schwarz is one of the oldest and most iconic toy retailers in the world. Frederick August Otto Schwarz dreamed of a marvelous, bountiful emporium full of extraordinary, one-of-a-kind toys from all over the world. His dream became a reality, and as one of America's oldest brands, we have provided this wonder to families for more than 160 years.

The Job 

As a Steiff Experience Associate, you will be responsible for guiding guests through the Steiff in-store experience and selling other Steiff products in the department. Known as the inventor of the Teddy Bear, Steiff is a classic brand with a rich history, and a diverse assortment of product from baby’s first teddy bear to collector items.  

As a representative of both Steiff and FAO Schwarz, you’ll be passionate about sharing what makes both brands special; selling our high-end plush toys; providing superior customer service; maintaining a department that reflects our high standards; and creating a fun and unforgettable experience that brings joy to both children and adults.

We are open to part-time or full-time candidates; please note that open scheduling availability across all days and shifts is a requirement for full-time positions. 

Reporting to: Experience Manager

What You’ll Do 

Guest 

§  Act as brand ambassador to educate guests about Steiff and the uniqueness of the brand. 

§  Build authentic connections with guests to effectively guide them through the steps of service. 

§  Be able to adapt your style to engage both children and adults as they visit us in the store. 

§  Apply and adapt our selling vision to effectively handle more than one guest simultaneously without compromising the guest experience. 

Team

§  Create an atmosphere that is welcoming, entertaining, and memorable.

§  Make recommendations to evolve and innovate the experience to excite our guests. 

§  Share expertise with colleagues to help elevate the experience for our guests and ensure consistency. 

Store

§  Ensure the Steiff department is organized, well-stocked, and properly merchandised.

§  Demonstrate great selling techniques to meet or exceed sales goals and KPIs. 

§  Complete daily assigned administrative tasks to ensure experience supplies are available to fulfill guest orders. 

§  Escalate any maintenance issues that may prevent delivering the experience as planned. 

§  Be knowledgeable about other parts of the store and be able to flex outside of the department as necessary to support the wider store. 

What You Have 

§  1+ years experience in a role within a fast-paced premium retail or experience-based environment.

§  An outgoing and engaging personality capable of building genuine rapport with our guests

§  Proven retail sales experience and skills, especially with premium/luxury products.

§  Flexible availability in line with a Flagship Retail environment across days, evenings and weekends. 

§  Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and twisting and standing for long periods of time.
